    The Department of Human Resources will host MISSION PERMANCENCY: Statewide Adoption Training & Matching Meeting. In addition to workshop sessions this meeting will provide an opportunit y for matching children with available families and for recruiting new families for Georgia's waiting children.     "The Impact of Maternal Substance Abuse of Child Development". Presenter- Karen Howe, Ph.D. This seminar will discuss the impact that maternal substance abuse has on the physical,cognitive,social and emotional functioning of a young child. Interventions and resources for caregivers of children impacted by maternal abuse will be provided. Location: 1105 W.Peachtree St., NE in Atlanta. Time: 6pm-8pm. Seminar is FREE. NASW/GA 2 CEU Hours.     The GA Center for Resources and Support and the Department of Family and Children Services  in Region 1, will host a training on "Parenting a Child Who Has a History of Sexual Abuse". Dr. Wendy Hanovold,Ph.D., will be the guest speaker. This training is for adoptive and foster parents who reside in Region 1. A 3hr training certificate will be awarded. Refreshments will be served.     Get Ready to Read Workshop
    Attention Pre- Kindergarten Parents. Is your child about to enter into Pre-K this fall? Then the Get Ready to Read Program is for YOU!!
    This program trains parents to use a 20 question profile to take a snapshot of what pre-reading skills your child possesses and helps you to help them gain skills through specific activities. Alpharetta  Library from 1-3pm.

    REAP Adoptive Couples Weekend
    Relationship Enhancement for Adoptive Parents (REAP),will host "Dinner & A Movie" at the Courtyard Marriott in Atlanta, GA. Come expecting to learn how to enrich your marriage with vital new communication skills. Twelve (12) hours of education credits will be awarded upon completion of the program. Dates:Saturday through Sunday.
