About Course

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act affords certain rights to children with disabilities and their parents.  The schools are required to give you notification of these rules.  However, the “Parental Rights” forms given to parents by school districts are often difficult to read. In this document, you will find these same rights as published by the State of Georgia Department of Education*, translated into easier to understand English and broken down into sections.  At the end of some sections is an “Inside Information” section in italics, which includes extra tidbits of advice from seasoned advocates.  Excluded from this document is a detailed listing of rights under dispute resolution, as I believe that if you find yourself at that point, you should consult with an attorney.
