Amy Parmer graduated from the University of West GA with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. She began her career as a Foster Care Case Manager at the Douglas County Department of Family & Children Services. Three years later, she went to work with the Department of Human Services where she joined the SHINES team as a Subject Matter Expert on the Statewide Automated Child Welfare System project. After leaving the Department of Human Services, Amy became the Marketing Director at OASIS Counseling where she continued to work with children & families providing mental health services.   Amy is now working as a Resource Advisor with the GA Center where she can do what she loves best and that is to help other families.

Amy is the mother of two children. One of which is special needs and medically fragile and has a rare type of Muscular Dystrophy called Central Core Disease. Amy is very involved in the Muscular Dystrophy Association and has the desire to help families with children that have special needs. She helped form a support group to help new families with babies that required a tracheotomy to adjust to life after the hospital called “Venty Mom’s”. Amy loves the social work field and has a great passion to help others.
