Bloom University offers nationally recognized training opportunities designed to elevate your impact in supporting Georgia’s children. Bloom University provides trauma-informed, evidence-based training for foster parents, biological or adoptive parents, caregivers, human service professionals, child welfare workers, teachers, and other professionals or volunteers who work with children.

 

All training opportunities reflect best practices and standards of care for working with children and adolescents.

 

 

Better Brains for Babies: Fostering Secure Attachment for Young Children Who Have Experienced Trauma

June 19th | 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm

Early positive interactions are essential to healthy attachment because the brain is developing rapidly during the first year. This course will explore attachment, experience, and learning through a trauma-informed lens to help caregivers find ways to support secure attachments for children ages 0 to 5 who have experienced instability, neglect, and abuse.

Strengthening Families Protective Factors Framework

June 26th | 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm

Strengthening Families is a research-informed framework and approach to preventing child abuse and neglect. Developed by the Center for the Study of Social Policy, this approach focuses on family and community strengths and protective factors rather than risk factors.

Youth Mental Health First Aid

Certification Course

June 27th | 10:00 am to 3:30 pm

Learn how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among children and adolescents ages 12-18. Successful completion of this course results in a 3-year certification as a Youth Mental Health First Aider.
