Benefits of Writing for Parents and Children
Description
Writing as a therapeutic practice can benefit both parents and children as a general means of expression. It can also be a way to strengthen communication, for processing a traumatic event. Particular topics can at times be difficult for children and parents to present verbally. Writing can allow for space, time, and reflection prior to verbal response, or it can be an end product to simply release without the necessity of added dialogue. This workshop will explore types of writing and journalistic expression and how to initiate the practice with children/adolescents.
