Joining a New Family: Preparing Everyone for the Change
About Course
When children are separated from their parents and transition into a new family, it can be stressful for everyone. This change causes a series of different emotions that range from joy and excitement to feelings of sadness, fear, stress, and even grief. This workshop will explore how preparation, training, and family consideration can make these transitions easier for everyone. Presenter will provide suggestions and topics for consideration to prepare each member of the family including the child in the care system. Participants will learn how to address the needs of all family members, provide family maintenance, preserving family roles and to consider the thoughts, feelings, and transitional needs of the child joining their family.
