Dr Myles presentation was very informative. She gave so much information on trauma and how it affects children. Not knowing and not experiencing the effects of trauma that a child may have experience is very difficult to comprehend. Just imaging a child at a tender age had gone through so much terrible things is very difficult as an adult to comprehend. Therefore, knowing what you know now, should help me as an adult to understand, when a child reacts terribly to an environment or a person to first try to understand what that child might have been through. Thank you so much for the information.

As a foster parent, taking this course has helped me understand how trauma deeply affects children in my care. I’ve learned that trauma can start early in life and impact many areas like their behavior, emotions, learning, and family relationships. Understanding complex trauma and how children may relive painful memories through sights, sounds, or feelings has given me more patience and insight. This course also made me aware of the connection between bullying, adverse childhood experiences, and long-term mental health. Overall, it’s equipped me with knowledge to better support and nurture the healing of the children I foster.
