·        BIPOC Mental Health Month | Mental Health America
o   July is Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, dedicated to raising awareness about the mental health needs of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities. MHA offers a comprehensive toolkit designed to help navigate mental health stigma, bridge generational gaps, dismantle myths, and encourage meaningful conversations within BIPOC communities. The initiative emphasizes cultural competence and the unique mental health challenges faced by BIPOC individuals, aiming to provide support through a racial equity and intersectional lens. For more details and to access the BIPOC toolkit, visit the BIPOC Mental Health Month website.

·        Anti-Asian and Pacific Islander Hate
o   The rise of Anti-Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) hate has intensified since the COVID-19 pandemic. This surge is driven by xenophobia and the harmful model minority myth, rooted in historical traumas like the Chinese Exclusion Act, Japanese internment, and recent violence. Addressing this issue with youth involves open, ongoing conversations about race and discrimination, starting early and incorporating these discussions into daily activities. Effective strategies include patience, validating feelings, encouraging questions, sharing personal experiences, celebrating diversity with young children, using books and media for school-age kids, and engaging teens with open-ended questions. For more resources, visit Lotus Project for recorded webinars on intergenerational trauma, racial trauma, and trauma-informed treatment strategies for Asian American communities and refugees.
