What is Circle of Friends?
Circle of Friends is a non-profit organization formed in the summer of 2019 to address the growing needs of adults with disabilities in Cherokee County, GA. Our leadership team is comprised of people from different career paths, experiences, and walks of life.
Our board includes parents of young adults with disabilities, community members, and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Circle of Friends is committed to inclusion and therefore the intergenerational/multi-ability board resembles the community they serve.
Circle of Friends has a very active social program led by Joanne Salomone. The committee plans monthly events as well as spontaneous activities.
Check out the Circle of Friends: Let’s Get Social Facebook group for information on social events and links to other activities in the area. Let’s Get Social is a group for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (and their families) ages 18 and over who have finished with high school.

Employment:
Our goal is to help foster appropriate and supportive employment opportunities for young adults to gain valuable skills, earn a fair wage, and experience the sense of accomplishment that having a job provides.
Supportive Attainable Housing:
Circle of Friends is working on a community design to empower adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, older adults, and neurotypical peers to flourish. Let’s offer a bit of heaven here on earth, a place for our young adults to call home.
Circle of Friends worked with Sizemore Group, an architecture and planning firm, to develop the community design plan pictured here.
