Trauma 101
About Course
Trauma 101 will provide participants with an overview of trauma, particularly in children, and in the context of a parent-child relationship. We will discuss acute, chronic and complex trauma, identifying various types of traumatic experiences and trauma’s impact on social, biological, psychological, and cognitive functioning and development. This course will also review common mental health diagnoses related to trauma in order to help participants understand trauma’s impact on the brain. A subsequent course, Trauma 102, will focus on ways of coping with trauma.

The Presenter, Ms. Nicolette Gordon, LAPC was phenomenal. Her presentation was very informative. Trauma is a situation that you might think you know what a child, person, even yourself might be going through but you really don't know. You can only understand another person's situation, if you might have experienced some of their pain and injury. Working with children you really have to be a lot more patient, observing their behaviors, and try harder while working with them because you don't really know their trauma and story that they might have experienced. Thank You.
