Weekly Mindful Moment: Let's take a mindful moment to pause, breathe, and connect with the present. Close your eyes if you feel comfortable, and take a slow, deep breath in through your nose, feeling your lungs expand fully. Hold for a moment, then exhale slowly through your mouth, letting go of any tension or stress with each breath. As you continue to breathe deeply, notice the sensation of air filling your lungs and the feeling of relaxation spreading through your body. Take this time to simply be present, without judgment or expectation, allowing yourself to fully experience the moment. When you're ready, gently open your eyes, bringing this sense of mindfulness with you as you continue your day.

Children’s Mental Health Month Resources:
- Emory University psychologist Stephen Nowicki highlights the detrimental impact of increased screen time on children’s social skills. With less face-to-face interaction, kids struggle to pick up on nonverbal cues, hindering their ability to relate to peers. The COVID-19 pandemic made these issues worse, with remote learning further isolating children from crucial social interactions. Nowicki suggests interventions like teaching appropriate eye contact and facial expression interpretation.
- Sesame Street addresses childhood trauma in preschoolers through educational resources, acknowledging that young children often express distress physically rather than verbally. They offer free materials and professional development to support parents and educators. The organization aims to foster resilience and emotional wellbeing in children and empower adults to provide comfort and safety.
