Understanding Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

In this training, participants will gain a general understanding of PTSD. This training will provide a definition of PTSD, overview of how trauma can lead to PTSD, common causes and traumatic events, symptoms of PTSD, implications of PTSD, diagnosis of PTSD, treatment approaches for PTSD, Self-Care strategies for PTSD. Weekly Mindful Moment: To quickly release tension and bring a sense of calm.
1. Find a Comfortable Position:
– Sit or stand comfortably with your feet flat on the ground.
– Close your eyes or soften your gaze.
2. Take Five Deep Breaths:
– Inhale slowly and deeply through your nose, counting to four.
– Hold the breath for a count of four.
– Exhale slowly and completely through your mouth, counting to six.
– Pause for a moment before the next breath.
3. Focus on the Breath:
– With each inhale, imagine breathing in calm and peace.
– With each exhale, imagine releasing tension and stress.
4. Notice Your Body:
– As you breathe, notice any areas of tension in your body.
– With each exhale, consciously relax those areas.
5. End with Intention:
– After the fifth breath, take a moment to set a positive intention for the rest of your day.
– Open your eyes, feeling refreshed and centered.
