Project Healthy Grandparents is a program aimed at improving the health and well-being of grandparents raising their grandchildren in parent-absent homes. Services are FREE to grandparents that live in South Dekalb and South Fulton County. Services include social work visits, nursing visits, grandparent support groups, parenting education classes, Early Intervention and developmental support for young children, legal service referrals, educational support/tutoring for school-aged children, and free transportation to PHG events and medical appointments. To be eligible for services, a grandparent must be raising at least one grandchild aged 16 years or younger, the grandchild’s parents must be absent from the home, the grandparent cannot be a past participant of the program, and the family must reside in South Fulton or South DeKalb County (20-mile radius of downtown Atlanta).
